Seniors

Your senior year is one of the most exhausting, hectic and exciting times in your life. Capture this time with beautiful portraits that are uniquely you! Don’t let this time slip by without an exciting senior portrait.

The biggest mistake you can make is waiting until the last minute to get your senior portrait taken. I can’t tell you how many calls I get from desperate teens who need their senior portrait taken NOW because the deadline to get their photo to the yearbook is in just a few days. Unfortunately neither I nor any other professional photographer can get the job done in a couple of days. Good quality senior portraiture takes time. I wish I could photograph everyone who calls needing their portrait ASAP. It breaks my heart to have to turn people away, but I am usually booked 2 weeks out and during the months of September and October there could be up to a 4 week wait. Also from the time you schedule your consultation to the time you view your portraits could take up to 2 weeks. Something to keep in mind when you’re thinking about scheduling your senior portrait session. So please don’t wait until September to think about your senior portraits. The best time to get them done is June, July or August that way there is no stress or rush to get them finished and to the yearbook in time.

There is a 3 appointment process with all my senior portrait sessions. First is your consultation appointment. This is a free, no obligation appointment to meet with me and decide if you want me to be your senior portrait photographer. If you decide that you want me to photograph you then next is your portrait session appointment and lastly your viewing appointment where you will decide which portraits are your favorites and what you want to order. Please come prepared for this appointment. Have a list of what size portraits and how many you need for friends and family.

My senior portrait sessions begin at $125. All sessions include studio and/or outdoor photos, no limits on outfit changes, a yearbook photo, a social media CD (non-printable, low rez), bring sports equipment, pets, or anything that says something about you. Senior packages begin at $99.00 and gift portrait prices begin at $29.00. Bonus–Make all your appointments without rescheduling and get 16 wallets FREE.

Portrait Clothing and Preparation Suggestions

Your clothing selections and preparation for your portrait can make or break a beautiful image. To help aid you in selecting the proper clothing style, colors and patterns, below you will find some helpful guidelines that I have found work best for beautiful portraits. You will also find helpful suggestions on things you can do before you come that will ensure an enjoyable experience at my studio.
•Tops
Bring along your favorite jacket or sweater. I suggest you bring long sleeves for at least one shot. Avoid sleeveless and short sleeves if possible.
•Identity
Bring your athletic uniforms, your band uniforms, outfits that identify you.
•Something Casual
Bring the favorite things you wear on a normal day.
•Something Different
Show your Individuality and Style by bringing something fun, formal or wild.
•Something Classic
Bring something timeless that will not make you cringe 10 years from now.
•Details / Accessories
Musical Instrument , Vehicles ( I need to know about it ahead of time), Sports Equipment, Hats, Sunglasses, Cheerleaders don’t forget your pom poms and megaphone.
•Some Tips
Stay clear of stripes – large bold ones of 5+” are tolerable, but small thin ones will not
photograph well. Your face should be the focal point of your portraits. Long sleeve solids or very subtle prints are usually the most flattering in portraits. Medium to dark clothes look the best on dark backgrounds. So if you like more dramatic looks, use darker more subdued colors. Medium to light colors look the best on lighter colored backgrounds. So if you like the lighter sets and backgrounds, bring lighter clothes that will go well with the backgrounds you prefer. Pastels, however, do not photograph well. For outdoor portraits be careful of bright greens as they often clash with the greens of the leaves and grass. Black, Khaki, pink, orange, navy, tan, gold, and burgundy are good outdoors. I recommend staying away from white, yellow or other very light/pale colors outdoors. Some poses will show your shoes, so don’t forget to bring shoes & socks for each outfit that you plan to wear. Barefoot and sandals are no problem for your casual clothes. Guys don’t forget those belts ,and gals don’t forget your jewelry.
•Skin Problems
The most common problem I see is sunburn and tan lines! Please use sunscreen or try to keep out of the sun a week or two before your session. I often see uneven sunburn from ball caps, peeling skin on noses from recent burns, raccoon eyes from those who were burned while wearing sunglasses, or strap lines on the shoulders of individuals who wear them outside. Sunburn, uneven tanning and tan lines can not be retouched. Do not be concerned about minor acne or skin blemishes. I will digitally remove these for free.
