About Tammy

I’m a wife and a mother of 2 wonder men and 3 little rambunctious dogs, Chico, Max and Cinnamon, those are the dogs, not my kids. My oldest son is serving in our Navy and just finished with his tour in Afghanistan (now I can breath). I’m very proud of him and the sacrifices he has made. My youngest son was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome when he was in kindergarten. For those of you that don’t know what Asperger’s is, it’s like high functioning autism. That’s the easiest way to explain it. That is also the reason for the autism links on my website. He just graduated high school. That in itself is a huge achievement for him. He had a super hard time through school, but he made it! I’m very proud of him.
Now a little about me. I am an artist and a thinker. I love rock-n-roll music and American Idol. I love funny movies, action movies, sci-fi movies and maybe the occasional romance when I can talk my husband into it. I LOVE Star Trek! I have all the DVD’s of the original series and all the movies. I enjoy listening to talk radio while I’m editing photos (my husband says it’s old man radio). I love home improvement and decorating shows. They inspire me to redecorate and remodel. My husband is quite annoyed with my HGTV obsession. I’ve been watching The Young and the Restless everyday for the last 27 years. Another obsession which sometimes annoys everyone around me when I start talking about the show. I love shopping for clothes and makeup. Yes I watch What Not To Wear too. Thank goodness for DVR or I wouldn’t get anything done. I love the sunshine and the ocean. Two things I wish I could see more often. The thing I love most is photography. I’ve loved photography since high school. I refuse to tell you how long that’s been on the grounds that it may incriminate me. With all the other things that have come and gone in my life photography has been the one thing that has stayed with me all these years and I don’t see an end to that. I know that when I die I’ll have a camera in my hand. That’s probably more than you wanted to know about me, but that’s me.

Here is where I tell you all about my many fancy awards and all my education…

Well first of all I’ve never been one for entering my images in the local photography associations print competitions. I was always more interested in taking photographs for people personally than for some association to tell me how great I am. Frankly I don’t even belong to a local photography association. I guess that would account for the lack of awards. I used to belong to a local camera club, filmpack.org, and I did win photo of the year in 2008 for an image I submitted, Pumpkin Heads, but that is the only award I have under my belt and that’s good enough for me.
As for education I have taken several community ed courses in photography and portrait technique and composition throughout the years. I still take online courses from time to time to learn everything I can about photography and the business. My education will never stop. As for fancy college degrees, well I don’t have any of those. I wanted to go to the Art Institute after high school, but due to lack of funds and the fact there wasn’t one near by at the time I never did make it. That didn’t stop my dream of wanting to be a professional photographer. Well here I am. A dream come true.
